B.D. Riley's black bean queso has to be one of the more unique quesos in Austin. It's a generous helping of melted cheese with a pile of black beans on top. Not your traditional queso fare. The chips aren't made from your standard tortilla. As far as I can tell, the chips are actually deep fried phyllo dough. That's right, deep fried puff pastry.
Shocked by how B.D. Riley's could further fatten chips & queso, I stared at this queso for a few minutes before giving it a shot.
The black beans and the queso have great flavor, but the combination with phyllo dough chips makes it a symphony. Don't let the presentation fool you... I snapped the picture after a few minutes of attacking the pure saturated fat goodness with a friend. Kudos to B.D. Riley's for one of the tastiest and most unique interpretations of queso in Austin. Now back to the treadmill.
